This oil painting shows Rudolf Nureyev and ballerina Bryony Brind, who performed together for the famous Nureyev version of the Shades scene from the classical ballet la Bayadere in the early 1980's. Light is used to emphasise the concentration and focus of the dancers.
La Bayadere is a Royal ballet favourite, with a tale of love , murder and vengeful judgement by the Gods, set in legendary India.
The figures are based on ballerina Bryony Brind former principal dancer at The Royal Ballet, and famed Russian dancer Rudolph Nureyev, who was perhaps the most well known male dancer from the 1960s to 1980s, working with many of the leading dancers including Margot Fonteyn.

I often combine my original drawings , paintings, and photo's with pixel based designs , many now available via FineArtAmerica. Images are available on canvas, as well as on a variety of fashion , fashion accessories, and tech giving a great opportunity to 'wear' art as well as display it ! ...
